Road to Oscars: SAG Awards

you know my name
1. The cast of Lost is better than the casts of The West Wing and Six Feet Under?
2. Keifer Sutherland is better than Ian McShane, Hugh Laurie and Alan Alda?
3. The cast of Crash outperformed the casts of Good Night and Good Luck and Brokeback Mountain?

Really?

The SAG awards predetermine the Oscar winners: Phillip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote" and Reese Witherspoon in "Walk the Line"; Rachael Weisz in "The Constant Gardener" and Paul Giamatti in "Cinderella Man".

No acting awards for "Brokeback Mountain" at all? Really?

I think I've lost faith in the SAG.

WTF?!?!?

My thoughts *exactly*. I used to think SAG had some credibility. It's all torn to shreds now. Actors are stupid sometimes.

now is the time i'm sorry i got rid of my beau felton icon.

"You think people get things because they DESERVE them? How many times have you watched the Oscars and said, 'Who, him? HE'S the best actor?'"

Though Frank is the kind of person who would actually behave as though he believed the awards exist for a reason other than to argue about who should have won ;)

I hearby award you a Pembleton!

I haven't seen brokeback mountain, good night and good luck, or capote, to compare, but those acting winners at least strike me as deserving.

Beau Felton is right, of course. And Phillip Seymour Hoffman probably does deserve it. I was a bit surprised that Crash took ensemble, though - perhaps because it had the biggest cast?

And I'm suspicious about Reese beating Felicity Huffman. And no way should Weisz have got it over Williams.

It was just a collective WTF, even though a lot probably deserved it.

This is why I don't pay attention to award shows. It's inevitable that I'm going to disagree with most of their choices.

Sometimes I like the pain. Occasionally (once every decade) me and the Oscars agree - and it looks like this might be that year.

Sometimes it's a close call. Other times I just don't get it. But calling Keifer better than Alan and Ian is ludicruous. Saying Crash had the best ensemble because it was the biggest is silly.

Putting Lost in the same category as 6FU and TWW - I'd laugh if it weren't so depressing. Sometimes I'm a masochist.

I get upset like this at the Emmys because most of my favourite shows never get nominated, and if they do they rarely win. Frequently the awards winners seem so random.

Based on the Golden Globe winners - and now the SAG winners - I've been expecting "Brokeback Mountain" to win for best picture, and Ang Lee for best director at the Oscars but the actors not to get any awards (even though the whole cast is amazing, and they totally deserve to win!!). I'm still holding out hope for Heath Ledger though.

Oh, I agree, but I also like the competition aspect and another list of what some people think are "best of..."

I like lists and history more than anything :-)

I'm still holding out hope for Heath Ledger though.

And, if not, I'm sure Phillip Seymour Hoffman is wonderful in "Capote" and deserving.

Puh-lease. It's an awards show. All awards shows disappoint one eventually. This is why I've chosen to focus on the bad attire/behavior of the attendees instead. It's much more satisfying.

BTW, you're not going to be too shocked when I state that, IMHO, the SAG was right in awarding the ensemble cast award to Lost rather than to The West Wing or 6 Feet Under, are you? ;)

Glad to see that Phillip Seymour Hoffman won for his role in Capote, though. He was outstanding.

One doesn't like to be disappointed! Yes, I put unrealistic expectations on things - but occasionally there's just madness!

Shocked, no. Most people who watch LOST have probably never seen the other two shows - and probably wouldn't understand them ;-)

I'm a bit surprised that other actors think the work on LOST is of a higher calibre than that of TWW or 6FU - although I guess they all want to work on a successful show (and the other two have been cancelled!)
